About us

Our company was formed in June 2007. Although we are relatively new, our background demonstrates a wealth of experience. Here’s the story ….

Following his retirement as a police officer with Lancashire Constabulary, Stuart Coates worked for the Fraser Eagle Group from 2002 to 2008.  He worked as a manager in various departments and “did a bit of driving” as and when required, usually for “emergencies”.

In his time with Fraser Eagle, Stuart learned a huge amount about supply and demand of coach services for emergency and pre-planned situations for the rail and airline industry, and has witnessed the wide variation of other coach operators in quality of service, vehicles and drivers.

In late 2005, Stuart made the bold, or rash, decision to “have a go” and he acquired the company name “Moving PEOPLE”.  He held it as a dormant company until he found Mr or Ms Right to manage his little coach operation.  He chose the name because, not only did he want to move people in the literal sense, he wanted to move them in terms of their experience of customer service.  Stuart also registered himself as an operator, albeit without any vehicles.

In the Spring of 2007, Stuart met Andrew Parry, then working for Tyrer Bus at Colne and also as a casual driver for Fraser Eagle Coaching.  Andrew acquired his PCV licence in 2001 and worked for Burnley and Pendle Transport for many years, before taking a career break in 2006. He is a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (Commercial).

Stuart recognised that Andrew shared his passion for quality of service and appointed him as Coach Operations Manager.  They went shopping and found a top-of-the-range Setra S315 48 seat coach, previously owned by Crusader Holidays of Essex.  It’s beautiful (if you’re a coach spotter!). It is fitted with seat belts (of course), a toilet, and it has a kitchen area for the service of hot and cold drinks.

Stuart and Andrew doubled their fleet (!) in April 2008 when they were successful in their bid for a school contract and bought their first service bus.  They thought this went rather well and acquired 2 more school services in September of that year.  Two more buses followed, then a mini-coach for private hire work.

Now, Moving PEOPLE has 3 of those beautiful Setra coaches, a mini-coach and some double deckers – see Our Fleet

Moving PEOPLE is moving onwards and upwards ....
